FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Jaqueline knows how to stretch a dollar to feed her family. But following her husband’s traumatic brain injury more than five years ago, it’s been difficult to get by.

“Every few months, we come through here,” Jacqueline said of the Compassion Center in Springdale, a partner agency of Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.

Thanks to people like you, Jacqueline can pick up meat, fresh produce and other groceries that she knows will feed her husband and three children through times when money is low for the family.

Though Jacqueline’s husband can’t work because of his injury, he’s still waiting for social security disability benefits to kick in. The family doesn’t qualify for supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits.

Jacqueline works as a direct support specialist for people with developmental disabilities. With her one income, she says she shops at stores she knows will have the least expensive groceries.

Currently, Jacqueline is trying to find an additional job to supplement her current income. In the meantime, she’s thankful she can stop in at Compassion Center when necessary.

“[The people at Compassion Center] care about your spirit and your heart,” Jacqueline says.

Thank you for walking alongside your neighbors through some of the most difficult times of their lives. You make it possible for so many to have nutritious meals, and hope for their future.
